Sofa Reupholster done!
The sofa reupholster is finally done and I am so glad. My customer is glad too I am sure! It’s always hard to live without your couch for a month!
Most people would just take a couch that was as worn as this one to the landfill but since it was a really good piece of furniture when it was purchased and very comfortable, the owners chose to keep it and re-do it. If a piece of furniture is well made and has “good bones”, consider having it re-done, rather than taking it to the landfill. Although it was expensive to reupholster it, to buy this quality new now a-days would have been the same price. Lots of sewing and labor went into this sofa!
Here are the before and after pictures.
If it were for me, I probably would have done it in an off white textured chenille to accentuate all those buttons, tufts and pleats, but my customer is much more practical! I really couldn’t call this a diy project because I would not want to mislead anyone into thinking this is an easy to do it yourself project!
Now that the sofa reupholster is done, I can get back to the other chairs that are patiently waiting and pieces for Brimfield Antiques Show on May 14-19 which is our first Antique-Flea of the season.
Just a short post today because I have much work to do.
Regards,
Peggy Lydem
The chenille sounds dreamy but the green is lovely. I am glad she decided to redo it and keep it out of the landfill.
