When we first brought this piece into the shop I fell in love. I mean what crafting girl wouldn’t like 12 drawers, 2 shelves and a cabinet door in one unit. All the places to put things and some of the drawers even have dividers in them! ♥
Unfortunately it didn’t have a top and it was really dirty [most of our old furniture comes that way but my picker gets it really cheap!] No worries this baby had potential!
My Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint Classes are in full swing but quite often the most of the pieces I have painted with milk paint are sold and there is not enough painted finished pieces to show my customers in the shop. So since this is staying here I wanted to make it a milk paint charmer. It isn’t that old say 1960’s so the wood is plywood and the hardware industrial, after all it was a pharmacist workspace.
A bit of time looking at her and I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
- Keep it semi-industrial looking/re-use chrome hardware and use trophy miss mustard seed milk paint
- Use an accent color for the drawers
- Re-purpose an old drop-leaf table we had to make a top and use milk paint for the stain
- Keep all the existing hardware but add a bigger pull to the cabinet door
I choose trophy for the base of the cabinet and mustard seed yellow for the drawers. I made a stain out of typewriter for the top and then used our MMSMP tough coat to seal. Right now it is my favorite piece in the shop and the drawers are slowly getting filled with tools. Since I will be doing some of my sewing here soon I will need places for supplies and these drawers are perfect!
I also made sure my husband made the top at least 60″ so a bolt of my home dec fabric couldfit across the top and be cut on it.
I sure hope I can keep this piece for a long time! I just love my Furniture Picker, he always get me the good stuff that I love! Thank You! Thank You!
